A better than usual outing for the Bowery Boys. While looking across the street with a telescope, Gorcey and company witness a murder but they don't see the killer's face. After seeing the victim's photo in the paper, Gorcey and Hall go to the morgue to further investigate the crime.

There, they meet Parrish, the dead man's daughter who runs the hotel from which the boys witnessed the murder. She hires them as bellboys so they can work undercover. Through mistaken identity, Hall learns more about the killing from gangster Stander. He passes the information on to officer Dell,

who is suspended from the force for neglecting his regular duties. The crime is inadvertently solved by the Bowery Boys when they engage the crooks in a wild chase through a laundry chute. TROUBLE MAKERS is a well-handled comedy for the infrequently funny Dead End Kids, making sense with its plot

and using the film medium with positive effect. Some solid direction combines the slapstick and suspense elements for a good, brisk pace that gives this a higher quality.
