Lillian (Pamela Sue Martin) is a successful artist commissioned to do a painting for Jake Gregory (Steve Railsback), a rich owner of a Los Angeles construction firm. On their first meeting he practically undresses her with his eyes, and before you know it the two are married. On their

first anniversary Jake gives Lillian diamond earrings, then pierces her ears in an intense moment bordering on the sadomasochistic. At an art opening the two meet Sidney (Ian McShane). He takes them to a party at his home and introduces them to the art of freebasing cocaine. Though Lillian

dislikes the experience, Jake is enthralled and quickly becomes a junkie. This film, paved with good intentions, is marred by a poorly devised script. Character motivations are often unclear, resulting in a story that never seems to know what direction to take. The outcome is no more effective

than an average made-for-television social drama.
