This puff piece captures the essentials of arrogant comic book artist/entrepreneur Todd McFarlane's amazing career. The most successful artist in comic book history, McFarlane started his professional life as a pro-baseball player. When an ankle injury derailed his plans, McFarlane re-evaluated his priorities and dusted off his hobby — drawing. Never shy about his abilities, McFarlane overcame initial rejection and rose to prominence for revitalizing Marvel's venerable Spider Man. McFarlane's penchant for violence and social commentary ruffled the feathers of his editors, so he bravely struck out on his own, founding Image comics. McFarlane spoke to a new generation of readers with his unique super-hero character, Spawn, and despite his bravado and outspoken manner, McFarlane values his fans. But he sees no contradiction in capitalizing on Spawn's enormous popularity and has created a mass-market empire that includes TV, video games and toys. In 1997, Spawn was turned into a blockbuster film. A marketing genius. McFarlane has since expanded his horizons into music videos and shows no signs of slowing down. No stranger to controversy, McFarlane also made headlines when he purchased Mark McGwire's 70th homerun baseball. Despite his cocky attitude, this self-made man emerges from Kenton Vaughan's worshipful documentary as an irresistible pop culture icon.

A modern-day Cinderella story about believing in oneself, this film mixes candor with fan magazine abandon, managing along the way to makes some astute observations about selling out, salesmanship and the intersection of business and art.
