Fyffe is an old Scottish farmer who is constantly fighting with his neighbors. He lives on his sheep farm with his daughter Lockwood and his faithful companion sheepdog, Black Wull. Loder plays a young farmer who moves in next door with his own dog, Owd Bob. Loder and Lockwood take an

immediate liking to one another, but problems arise when Fyffe and Loder enter their dogs in sheepdog trials. Loder wins, and Fyffe, who has bet all he owns on his Black Wull, is left bankrupt. To add to his problems, Black Wull is discovered to be a sheep killer. Loder and Lockwood marry and take

care of the old man, who is given a new pup to raise. An amiable, routine British programmer with some good performances and a nice use of the country locations. Part of the film's plot was later lifted for THUNDER IN THE VALLEY (1947).
