Vallee and Richard Lane--aided by pal Jenkins--start a theatrical booking agency, but their partnership nearly founders when Lane's old sweetheart, Rosemary Lane, ends her marriage and tries to get back into show business. The female Lane importunes the male Lane to replace singer Merrill

with herself on an important television show, and he agrees to do so, to Vallee's disgust. Meanwhile, Vallee has discovered a fresh singing/dancing talent in Rosemary Lane's maid, Miller; he grooms her for stardom, which finally dooms his partnership with Richard Lane. The latter purchases a

nightclub in which to star his singing sweetheart Rosemary Lane. When a big-time talent scout arrives to witness Vallee's show, Vallee begs Rosemary Lane to let him use the new nightclub as a showcase. She agrees, but only if she can star. When her fiance finds that her career means more to her

than marriage, he forbids her that perquisite. Miller is pressed into service as a substitute star and proves a hit; everybody ends up with a Hollywood contract. The Three Stooges and the comic radio team of Brenda and Cobina wander about in slapstick cameos in this slim story which appears to be

a studio effort to get an A picture on a B budget. Musical numbers include: "Did Anyone Ever Tell You?" "Boogie Woogie Man," "Time Out for Rhythm," "Twiddlin' My Thumbs," "Obviously the Gentleman Prefers to Dance," "As If You Didn't Know," "The Rio De Janeiro," and "Shows How Wrong a Gal Can Be"

(Sammy Cahn, Saul Chaplin).
