This beautifully photographed South Seas drama stars Kauwe as a young Polynesian island boy who finds a baby shark and raises it as a pet with the help of his girl friend, Among. When the shark grows up, Kauwe returns it to the deep waters, fearing he will never see his pet again. Ten

years later, progress comes to the small island and the natives are being driven out. Among's brother becomes one of the driving forces behind the organized fisheries that are now dotting the landscape, and he sends his sister to the US to be educated. Kauwe now earns a living diving for pearls,

and one day his pet shark returns to him as a protector. However, his happiness is destroyed when the monopoly behind the fisheries begins burning down the natives' homes, forcing the villagers to flee. When Among returns from the US, Kauwe convinces her to leave the island, and the pair, along

with the shark, set sail for destinations unknown.
