This Savage Land Reviews

Shortly after the Civil War, widower Sullivan takes his parents and children from their Ohio home to Lawrence, Kansas. They build a house but suffer from a harrassing gang of ex-Confederates led by Scott. While Sullivan is away, the gang attacks the family, burning one of the wagons and wounding Sullivan's father, Seel. Afraid to return home, Sullivan asks Hays, the daughter of a local doctor, to help him. Once more the gang attacks, this time killing Hays's father and Seel. Sullivan falls for Hays along the way and has her move into his home. The gang returns, however--this time kidnaping Sullivan's daughter, Scott, as well as Hays--in hopes they can provide medical help. Sullivan, his son (Prine), and Hays' brother (Corbett) ride in and rescue the women at the end. Originally shown on NBC television as a two-part episode of "The Road West" series in 1966 before its theatrical release three years later.
