The Witness

This stark, Franz Kafka-like comedy dealing with the bureaucracy in Stalinist Hungary was made in 1969 but was withheld from release in its native land until 1978. One of many pictures concerning the events leading up to the political unrest of 1956, the film was directed by one of the older Hungarian "New Wave" filmmakers, Peter Bacso.
