A publishing takeover plot is initiated when newspaper executive Lowe, with three of his publishing peers, has Borland--owner of the prestigious paper the London Sun--committed to an insane asylum. Borland soon escapes his white-coated captors and the conspiratorial quartet begins to

dwindle. Obituaries of the soon-to-be deceased appear in a rival paper prior to their demises as the four become three, then two, and finally Lowe alone, anxious about his continuing existence. Spooky music heralds the discovery of each fresh corpse in this newspaper necrology, the fifth and final

film in Universal's CRIME CLUB series. This picture is probably the best of the series, and--with THE MYSTERY OF THE WHITE ROOM in the same year--the best of B-picture director Garrett's limited output.
