The Sting II Reviews

This repulsive sequel to George Roy Hill's THE STING is harmed irreparably by the performances of Jackie Gleason and Mac Davis, neither of whom comes anywhere near acquitting himself well. The pair scheme to strike it rich with a boxing scam involving a nightclub owner (Karl Malden) and a likeable young woman (Teri Garr, who delivers the only bright piece of acting in sight). The usual twists and turns follow, without wit or humor. The film was scripted by David S. Ward, who also wrote the original but added nothing new or special to this sequel. The score by Schifrin was nominated for an Oscar.
