A story of tenement life opens with a small boy falling down three flights of stairs. Warburton is a lawyer who goes to wealthy slum landlord O'Sullivan (giving one of her worst performances in an otherwise fine career) for damages. She won't pay and her uncle argues with her over this.

O'Sullivan ends up walking out and is mugged for her troubles. The cops mistake her for a drunk and she gets thrown in jail for 30 days. There she meets Compson, a slum dweller taking the rap for the injured boy's mother, who stole some food to feed her child. SILVER LINING does its best as

O'Sullivan does an about-face and ends up marrying Clark. The story is full of implausible situations that haven't aged well. By contemporary standards this is pretty funny stuff. The direction is all right considering the material's inherent shortcomings and performances are fair to middling.
