An Amish girl with dreams of becoming a dancer gets a job at a burlesque house in New York in the 1920s populated by a number of colorful characters including a comedy duo, the ambitious son of the club's owner, and a gangster who wants in on the place's profits. Just as the young hoofer plans to lose all her inhibitions on stage, her moralistic father appears.
