Walker plays a retired lawman who travels to Hope, Wyoming, in 1880 with his wife and family to begin a new life in the wilderness at the ranch he inherited from his grandfather. Trouble pops up in the form of a marauding grizzly bear that invades the ranch and terrorizes the family,

killing Walker's prize bull and several of local citizen Wynn's sheep. To add to his troubles, Walker is stalked by Gordon, a man whom he had sent to prison years ago, who is now out and seeking revenge. Eventually, Gordon is killed by the bear and the bear is killed by Walker. Photography

director Griggs became ill after filming most of the lovely location shots at Holcomb Valley, California, near Lake Arrowhead; filming was completed by Lipstein. Songs include "Angela" (Jay Livingston, Ray Evans) and "Pine Tree Tall" (Clint Walker, Charlie Aldrich).
