The Man I Love Reviews

Lupino heads west to Long Beach, Calif., where she gets a job in Alda's nightclub as a singer. She gets involved with Alda, a tough mug with mob ties, but eventually snubs him and peddles her affections to piano player Bennett. Some nice atmosphere which does not fully compensate for a weak script. The dandy selection of tunes includes: "Body and Soul" (Edward Heyman, Johnny Green), "Why Was I Born?" (Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein II), "Bill" (Kern, Hammerstein, P.G. Wodehouse), "The Man I Love," "Liza" (George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin), and "If I Could Be With You (One Hour Tonight)" (Henry Creamer, Jimmy Johnson).
