Not to knock the quality of acting in community theater, but this movie doesn't even rise to that level of competence. The absurdly random cast seems to be on a vacation where they get to play cowboys, with real horsies and everything, with Randy Travis, who truly is a fan of Westerns and the Western life, tries too hard once again at this danged acting thing. But it is good to see old Ernest Borgnine back in the saddle, and Garry Marshall gets the only laugh of the entire film in a small role. But Stella Stevens as Eric Roberts' love interest? Yeah, it could happen. It could happen on Mars. Ploddingly paced, infuriatingly structured and sloppily scored, The Long Ride Home describes your trip back to the video store to return it.
