The Lamp Still Burns Reviews

Realistic portrayal of the less-than-adequate conditions in a British hospital during WW II. John plays a young architect who chucks her career during wartime to devote her life to nursing. Outstanding performances by the entire cast in this evenly directed and edited feature. The film is endowed with high production values that, at this time in the history of British cinema, were unusual. Unfortunately, producer-actor Howard was shot down by the Germans while flying in a passenger plane soon after this picture was made, ending a brilliant career.
