A musical remake of the Ginger Rogers starrer TOM, DICK AND HARRY that fails to live up to the original, even with some nice tunes. Powell is simultaneously engaged to Noonan, Robertson, and Andes and can't decide who is the man for her. Andes is a wealthy playboy, Noonan is a real

estate man, and Robertson is a mechanic specializing in diesel engines. It was a fairly dumb story in 1941 when they made the first version but it was saved by a sharp screenplay and some superb performances. The script for this one falls down in the humor department and Robertson is a total lox

when it comes to playing comedy. Several contrived situations include Powell's fleeing from Andes just prior to their marriage. She winds up with Robertson at the conclusion, poor but happy. Gower Champion staged the musical numbers, and his creativity saves the day. Although the original

screenplay of TOM, DICK AND HARRY was by Paul Jarrico, he was given no credit on the screen which occasioned a brouhaha between the studio and the Writers Guild. Musical numbers include "The Girl Most Likely" (Bob Russell, Nelson Riddle), "All the Colors of the Rainbow," "I Don't Know What I

Want," "Balboa," "We Gotta Keep up with the Joneses," "Crazy Horse" (Hugh Martin, Ralph Blane).
