The Garbage Pail Kids Movie Reviews

A stunningly inept and totally reprehensible film, THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE must surely be the only movie ever to be based on bubblegum cards. A garbage can from space lands on Earth and ends up with retired magician and antique store owner Manzini (Anthony Newley), who forbids his young helper Dodger (MacKenzie Astin) to open it. Unfortunately, one day Dodger is attacked in the shop by teenager Juice (Ron MacLachlan) and his sadistic gang of goons. During the struggle, the forbidden garbage can is opened and from it emerge several small, ugly creatures (midgets in costumes), each with its own disgusting habit. Messy Tessie, Windy Winston, Nat Nerd, Foul Phil, Greaser Greg, Ali Gator, and Valerie Vomit make quick work of the villains, but the job now is to get the vile creatures back into the can. Not only is THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE crude, obnoxious, and disgusting, but it is totally inept. Haphazard scripting and editing give the movie a jumbled, confused feel. Apparently the public concurred about the film's repulsiveness, for outraged parents forced the distributor to pull television commercials for THE GARBAGE PAIL KIDS MOVIE off the air, and the film died an incredibly quick death at the box office.
