This first killer-bee movie is unfortunately slow and tedious. Pop singer Leigh is told by her doctors that she is suffering from exhaustion, so she travels to a remote British isle to rest and prevent a nervous breakdown. On the quiet island, she meets Doleman, who runs the inn and keeps

bees as a hobby. She discovers the fancy cottage of Finlay, another beekeeper. Things start to look suspicious when a local dog is found stung to death. Then Doleman's wife is found dead due to bee stings. The rest of the film is a search for the developer of the strain of killer bees. The film

builds at an excruciatingly slow pace, and, at times, drags through long explanations about the living habits of the vicious little critters. The special effects are handled well.
