A strange and fractured family run up against a different sort of cattle rustler in this short comedy from filmmaker Charles Williams. Teenaged Robert (Tom Budge) and his mother (Suzie Dee) are trying to puts things back on track at their diary farm following the death of Father (John Arnold). However, while Father had the know-how when it came to minding the cows and running the farm, he was also ill-tempered and abusive, and neither is especially sorry that he's gone. However, a mean-spirited con man (Syd Brisbane) arrives to take Dad's place in the household, though he's more interested in stealing the cows than helping out the semi-bereaved family. The Cow Thief received the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Short at the 2007 Slamdance Film Festival.
