Tex Reviews

Matt Dillon takes his urban toughness to Oklahoma as Tex, a young farmboy raised by his elder brother when their mother dies and their father wanders away. The film probes the pitfalls of growing up, tackling such subjects as sex, boozing, and fighting--three areas the Disney folks have stayed clear of in the past. Dillon, though occasionally annoying, turns in a decent performance, as do Jim Metzler as his brother and Meg Tilly (THE BIG CHILL, PSYCHO II, AGNES OF GOD) as his girlfriend. The screenplay is based on a teen novel by S.E. Hinton (who also appears in the film).
