Lee makes a brief appearance as Dracula (his fourth time in the role for Hammer) after being revived in a blood-drinking ceremony led by Bates. Three people who meet Bates at a classy bordello and then beat him to death become the targets of the vampire. Actually, it is the children of

the three who do the killing, which adds an uneasy eeriness to the picture. One of Hammer's last decent pictures, TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA was TV director Sasdy's first feature film, and he does a creditable job. The Victorian sets and costumes come a little closer to Stoker's original idea than

most of the Hammer "Dracula" pictures. Player Bates does decadence well; after this, his first featured role, he went on to appear in THE HORROR OF FRANKENSTEIN (1970); LUST FOR A VAMPIRE (1971); DR. JEKYLL AND SISTER HYDE (1971); and others of the ilk.
