of the legend is on the torrid affair between Wilde and Wallace, with the king finally discovering his wife's extramarital play through the gossip of Meacham. Wilde is banished from the court, and Wallace escapes a beheading by going to a nunnery. They are reunited years later when Wilde returns

to avenge the murder of the king at the hands of Meacham. The exterior scenes were shot in Yugoslavia.
