Submarine D-1 Reviews

Almost documentary in style, the film relates everything about submarines and those aboard, right down to the authentic uniforms and machinery. The Navy went out of its way to accomodate director Bacon so he could go behind the scenes to depict how the latest model operated. Along the way, during maneuvers, the boys stop off for rest and relaxation, chasing women in every port. This was the perfect recruiting tool for the Navy, stirring up the patriotism in audiences as they watched the men work the new equipment to perfection. Ronald Reagan had a small role in the film, but he ended up on the cutting room floor.
