A fairly effective low-budget crime thriller set in a striptease club, this movie actually manages to develop some interesting characters amid the exploitative bump and grind. Cody (Lenz) is a tough cop assigned to solve a series of murders of strippers. Convinced by her partner (Evigan)

that the only way to crack the case is for her to go undercover and pose as a stripper, Cody auditions for club owner Ray (Fell) at an amateur night contest. Nervous and barely able to dance, she cleverly employs props and sets and acts rather than dances her way through the routine. Ray hires

her, and soon Cody is nosing around in the personal lives of the other strippers as she looks for clues. Although its brief running time is padded with innumerable strip routines, STRIPPED TO KILL does spin an interesting tale of mystery and repressed lust. The script by the husband-and-wife team

of Andy and Katt Shea Ruben sees the cops masking their love for each other in a veil of professionalism that is only broken when Cody begins stripping. Cody subliminally begins to seduce her partner from the stripper's runway. Her repressed sexuality now unleashed, it threatens to take over her

psyche, while her partner is relegated to the uncomfortable position of culpable voyeur. Director Ruben, a former actress who appeared in BARBARIAN QUEEN and PSYCHO III, demonstrates a keen understanding of low-budget filmmaking and a good visual sense, walking the fine line between exploration

and exploitation.
