Whitman is an Ottawa police captain who wants some answers with respect to the fatal poisoning of his kid sister, Laure, who was a college student in Montreal. Impatient with the niceties of regular police procedure, Whitman ignores basic civil rights and scours most of Montreal, beating

informants senseless in his search for clues. During his investigation, he learns that Laure wasn't the wholesome coed he thought her to be, as she was involved in the theft of an Oriental black pearl necklace. The trail leads Whitman into a subculture of transvestites, nymphomaniacs, and horny

college professors, all of which only serve to fuel his fundamental misanthropy. Originally titled "Blazing Magnum" by its Italian producers, this attempt to capitalize on the popularity of DIRTY HARRY was picked up for distribution in the US by AIP and retitled (the new title is the real mystery

here, for it has nothing whatsoever to do with the movie). Violent in the extreme, most of the film is simply laughable as the scowling Whitman bursts into rooms and immediately starts slapping suspects around before identifying himself as a cop. There are numerous energetic beatings and pointless

car chases, and the unstoppable detective even manages to shoot down a helicopter with his handgun.
