The "zany youth vs. hard-nosed authority" formula goes to medical school in this crude and tasteless comedy. Bobby (Parker Stevenson), Al (Bob Dubac), and Barfer (Tommy Koenig) are med students who decide to relieve the pressure of their educational life by pulling off wild practical

jokes. After frightening some freshmen by posing as cadavers come to life, the fun-loving group becomes the target of the school's dean (Eddie Albert), who's determined to crack down on the shenanigans. Several sexist, scatological, and otherwise unfunny adventures later, the film winds to a

close. Witless and inane, this movie was directed by Rod Holcomb, a television director making a foray into theatrical film. Shortly before STITCHES' release, he had his name removed from the picture. Directoral credit was subsequently given to "Allen Smithee," a pseudonym used by various

personalities in Hollywood over the years who were trying to disguise their credits.
