Sullivan plays a retiring lawman whose last job draws "ghosts" from his past. He is assigned to bring to justice the sons of the man who raised him when he was orphaned as a child. He kills one and takes the other to await the stage into town at a station run by the parents of Maxwell,

Sullivan's old sweetheart. Brady gets into the act as the gunman hired to make sure Sullivan doesn't have second thoughts, even though he's an old friend of Sullivan's. These angles fit together to make an interesting western that is more concerned with character development than with nonstop

action, but there is enough of that too to keep things jumping. An excellent role for Sullivan, who has an opportunity to show that there is a heart somewhere beneath his tough exterior.
