A disappointing Keaton vehicle which sees costar Durante dominate the best comedy moments. Keaton plays a dull college professor who is bored with his sedentary lifestyle. Durante is Keaton's loyal butler who decides to spruce up his boss' life by handing him a bogus inheritance letter

which states that $750,000 is now his to spend. Keaton excitedly takes to the night life and runs into a troupe of frustrated, and untalented, actors trying to put on a show. Keaton falls in love with Todd, a feisty, hard-drinking gal, but nice-girl Selwyn waits in the wings. The professor funds

the troupe's show, but the premiere is a disaster until Keaton accidentally winds up on stage and becomes a star.
