This uninspired bargain-basement thriller opens after a number of young, beautiful dancers have been murdered in the dilapidated Van Slake Theater, and it is up to crusading female police detective Tori Raines (onetime pro wrestler Cindy Maranne) to crack the case. Tori goes undercover as

a dancer, picks out a suspect (wrongly), and is taken off the case before the film's violent, ambiguous conclusion. While SLASH DANCE is less odious than most films of its ilk--its sex and violence quotient is low--this restraint is of little consequence because the filmmaking is so incompetent.

Badly directed and poorly scripted, with monotonous scenes padding the action before it reaches its ineptly staged climax, SLASH DANCE is also hampered by the grotesquely bad performances of its amateurish cast.
