Having had a herd of Bar 20 cattle rustled away by unknown crooks, Boyd goes under cover as an eastern gambler and gets a job as a dealer in Ridges' gambling den in order to dig up information on the rustlers. He suspects that casino owner Ridges and a local ranch foreman are actually

twin brothers who provide alibis for each other when committing crimes. When one is out rustling, the other dresses in his brother's clothes and makes himself conspicuous, thus providing witnesses that will swear they saw him on the night of the crime. Boyd's identity is revealed, however, when a

gunslinger in town for a bit of gambling recognizes him. Ridges plans to trap Boyd and kill him, but Hoppy outwits them and a posse captures the Ridges brothers and their gang. A better than average "Hopalong Cassidy" adventure, highlighted by Boyd's obvious relish in playing an eastern dandy for

laughs.
