Leigh Lindsay (Suzanne Somers) is a writer for a lightweight travel magazine who's assigned to interview Ceiro (John Vargas), a mysterious "healer" dwelling in the remote desert. Using drugged tea and funky dust, the youthful Ceiro easily lays his hoodoo over Leigh, luring her hypnotically to his

candlelit lair, and eventually to bed. Leigh's Latina galpal Rayna (Julie Carmen), herself a mystic, discovers that Ceiro is a 17th-century Brazilian sorceror who believes that Leigh is the incarnation of his lost love. To force Leigh to enter "the spirit realm" with him, Ceiro blinds Leigh's

husband, kidnaps her daughter, and puts a fatal long-distance curse on Rayna. Just when all seems lost, the fiend is literally knocked off his perch by an emergency spell secretly prepared by the late Rayna.

Leigh's brief morphing into a wolf for the cop-out conclusion is all SEDUCED BY EVIL can boast in terms of special effects. The pic's main shock scenes consist of repeated peyote-inspired dream imagery of ravens, rocks, adobes and what not.

Actress/entertainer/exercise guru Sommers registers numerous degrees of alarm in between household chores, but a little more pluck on the character's part might have helped. As it is, Leigh's typical reaction to an attack by supernatural terrors is to close the window shades, fast. The feature

premiered on cable in 1994, then was spirited away to the home-video realm the next year.(Violence, sexual situations.)
