Santo has a run in with a Mexican relative of Dr. Frankenstein in this snappy entry in the Santo wrestling series. Freda Frankenstein (Gina Romand), daughter of the infamous Doctor Frankenstein, wants to stay young forever. She finds allies in a cadre of elderly scientists who do her bidding while juiced up on the youth serum she's invented. When Freda isn't checking her skin for wrinkles, she's tinkering with corpses for her Golem project or stopping by the cage of Gorilla Man, her failed gorilla-human transplant. Mostly, she schemes to capture Santo so she can use his super-potent wrestler's blood as a perpetual source of transfusions. Having swiped a blood sample at a wrestling match, Freda has ascertained that Santo's veins course with a TR factor that could firm up her jowls forever. Hoping to lure him into her clutches, Freda orders the kidnapping of Santo's girlfriend; meanwhile, a side effect of Freda's anti-aging injections — stark, raving madness — becomes apparent. Although Freda rejoices when her artificial man, Ursus, comes to life, her jubilation is short-lived. Ursus was supposed to conquer Santo, but when Santo breaks into Freda's sanctuary to rescue his lady love, he tends to Ursus's injuries and gains the monster's loyalty. The infuriated Freda forgets about her ungrateful dead creature and dusts off the Gorilla Man, ordering him into the wrestling ring to humiliate Santo in front of his admirers. It's unclear how the final alliances are goign to shake down, but one this apparent: Someone's going to blow up Freda's lab and not everyone will escape that explosion. It's hard to go wrong with a camp chiller about cosmetic excesses, and this snappy SANTO picture is genuinely entertaining. Fans of the series even have a choice of three villains: the squat Ursus, the dyspeptic Ape Man, or the tragic lady scientist born before Botox.
