At San Quentin prison, a group of inmates creates "The Inmate's Welfare League," an organization which maintains order and helps prisoners prepare for parole. MacLane is one of the most trustworthy members, but, when he breaks out and starts a crime spree, the League is almost dashed by

officials. The League's members feel it is their duty to see their wayward brother caught and punished; a founding member (Tierney) who's on the outside now hunts MacLane. Competently acted and directed, the film was perhaps a bit far-fetched, but any disbelievers will be overwhelmed by the

action, quickly forgetting any complaints they might have. Stage and radio actor Burr made his film debut with this one, which was also Carr's first leading-lady role.
