A British sailor, Hunter, is the only survivor when the ship he is on is sunk. He ends up on a desert island where he manages to disable a German cruiser long enough to give the British fleet time to come in and destroy it. He is killed without ever knowing that the commander of the cruiser squadron is the father he never met. Or maybe he survives and is decorated at Buckingham Palace; Fox couldn't seem to decide how to end the picture, so they showed it in New York with both endings and asked the audience to vote. Neither ending saves the film from its wooden acting and unbelievable action.
