This mundane cop film is given a big boost by the comedic pairing of Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal. Ray Hughes (Hines) and Danny Costanzo (Crystal) are veteran Chicago cops who have grown tired of chasing bad guys. After being forced by their commander to take a Florida vacation, Ray

and Danny begin to enjoy fun in the sun and talk seriously of retiring. As luck would have it, Danny inherits $40,000 from his aunt's estate. The partners decide to give their notice, retire to the Sunshine State, and buy the beachside bar they saw for sale. With only 30 days left to go before

retirement, they become obsessed with destroying the criminal empire of infamous drug dealer Julio Gonzales (Jimmy Smits). Gonzales doesn't roll over and play dead, however; he fights back hard. Admittedly the plot isn't much, and the action scenes border on the ludicrous, but the easy rapport

between Hines and Crystal is worth the price of admission. Wisecracking their way through tough situations and bickering like an old married couple, Hines and Crystal succeed in creating a new buddy team that ranks with the likes of Robert Redford and Paul Newman.
