Carson's last film in his long-running series of B westerns for Republic involves the cowboy's kid brother, Steele, who has been released from prison to the custody of Coffin, an evil stagecoach operator locked in a fierce competition with rival operator Cobb (for whom Carson works).

Coffin soon has Steele behind a mask, robbing Cobb's coaches. Carson learns of his brother's activities, and, though he could go to the sheriff with this information, he decides to remain silent in the hope that he will be able to turn his brother around. Steele does have a change of heart when,

during a stagecoach race between the brothers, he learns that Coffin has planted one of his henchmen in the coach to sabotage Carson. Seeing his brother struggle with the evil cowboy, Steele slows down his coach until Carson is able to rid himself of the intruder and continue the race. Carson

wins, and Steele marches off to confront his boss. Before he can face Coffin, Steele is gunned down in the street by one of the stage boss's henchmen and dies in Carson's arms. Carson then eliminates Coffin and his triggerman. After RIO GRANDE RAIDERS, Carson disappeared from the screen for two

years until he returned in a vastly inferior series of B westerns for Yucca Productions.
