A screen adaptation of a popular play which had run on Broadway for two years beginning in 1912. Davies is the very Irish lass who is bequeathed the sum of 2 million pounds on the condition that she leave her homeland and live with the upper-crust Chichester family in England for three

years. Though she is devoted to her father, MacDonald, and the terms forbid her to see him during the period, she reluctantly agrees after Dad convinces her that she can't afford to pass up the opportunity. A variety of comic episodes follows as the naive and uneducated Davies attempts to deal

with the reserved Chichesters and their high-society acquaintances. Eventually, Davies gives up the game and happily returns to her father and her Irish village. The story was hardly new, but Davies gave a winning performance, offering some engaging songs, including "Sweetheart Darlin'."
