the fifth and last cowboy picture for Ballew. Producer Lesser had seen him play a cowboy in PALM SPRINGS (1936) and was convinced that this Gary Cooper look-alike would be a natural for a B-western series of his own. However Ballew's acting was barely adequate and, consequently, he never caught on

as hoped.
