The first of its kind: a completely Canadian film, from production to actors. Filmed around Toronto, it deals with four stories by Morley Callaghan set in the 1920s. "Silk Stockings" is about the undying love of a clumsy man for his landlady's daughter at the boarding house he resides in.

But while he pines away, she happens to be in love with someone else. "Rocking Chair" has a widower who turns down the advances of a willing boarder because the memory of his late wife still controls his life. "The Rejected One" features a busty but illiterate blonde who has a wealthy man fall in

love with her. Despite the objections of his family, he swoons for the girl from the other side of the tracks. The final story, "A Sick Call," is the story of a woman, a lapsed Catholic who, on her death bed, decides to revert back to Catholicism, though her Protestant husband is against it. Poor

acting sank this Canadian attempt to elbow into the fast track of filmmaking.
