With the Care Bears and GoBots being the subjects of animated films cum feature length commercials, it was only a matter of time before the "My Little Pony" toys also hit the big screen. Aimed at the preschool viewer, the story is a basic good versus evil saga involving the happy residents

of Ponyland. These miniature horses are celebrating the coming of spring, but their festivities are to be short-lived. An evil witch (voiced by Cloris Leachman), along with her two odious daughters (voiced by Rhea Perlman and Madeline Kahn), is scheming to flood Ponyland. Most of the ponies are

able to escape, but one young equine and her dragon pal end up trapped in a cave with some creatures called the Grundles. The Grundle King (voiced by Danny DeVito) then helps these two escape. The story is treacly sweet, told in a simplistic animation style that has lamentably become an industry

standard. Kids will enjoy the events, however, and parents might be mildly amused by the cast of famous voices. But at close to an hour and a half, MY LITTLE PONY pushes the limits of a younger child's attention span.
