Christy Brown is born with severe cerebral palsy, which makes him unable to walk or talk. The only body part he can fully control is his left foot. He's growing up as a part of a big and supportive family. Even though they're going trough hardships, his mother manages to save up enough to buy him a wheelchair. Over the years he engages in a special hobby using his only controllable limb, he paints. A woman named Eileen Cole organizes his first exhibition and he falls in love with her, experiencing a sad heartbreak. But he gets over it, and his mother helps him build up a private studio so he can continue to explore his unique talent.
