A grand opera troupe is on its last legs as it tours. Eggerth, a stowaway aboard the ship on which the company travels, ends up in a romance with tenor Kiepura. After the troupe is canceled in Monte Carlo (thanks to the dirty work of a rival company), it has its revenge, singing "Tosca"

in the square outside the main opera house and stealing the audience. That's about the only audience that this film could steal. Despite the good performances, especially Hale's comic relief, the story is too improbable to be believed. Songs are added in an unnatural way which is more silly than

operatic. Some good spots, but they are few and far between. There are versions in three languages, including English.
