A low-key, earnest and moving Anglo take on "Harold and Maude" (minus the eccentricities) is an acting showpiece for the estimable Joan Plowright. She plays the title character, a wealthy widow who moves to London and befriends an aspiring writer (Rupert Friend). Their platonic May-December romance is the cure for what ails both of these lonely souls. A top-notch supporting cast features Robert Lang and Millicent Martin, with Lorcan O'Toole, son of Peter O'Toole. Directed by Dan Ireland.
