More dredge from the limited talent of Italian schlock horror director Lamberto Bava (DEMONS), this time hiding behind the pseudonym of "John Old, Jr." The simpleminded story involves a mutant creature that takes to munching swimmers along the Florida coast. Sopkiw and a crew of scientists

learn the hungry monster is an eons-old predecessor of the modern-day shark. The 40-foot beast also has a little bit of octopus in its genes, and has the potential to reproduce itself literally millions of times. Naturally, the beast's presence spells trouble for the locals, so Garko, a Florida

lawman, sets out to destroy the malevolent monster. But no film like this would be complete without a little additional conflict, which comes in the form of bad scientist Berger, who wants to preserve the creature for study, regardless of the cost in human terms. There are some ugly moments

between Berger and Garko, but eventually science loses out, as the creature comes to a rather inglorious end. This grade-Z remake of JAWS is a lame, wholly amateurish work that might provide a few laughs but certainly won't frighten anyone. The "monster" is barely seen at all, and for good reason

since looks like the cheesy model it is.
