In this drama, an aging widow grows tired of running the family business and desires to turn it over to one of her children. Unfortunately, none of them are worthy of her trust so she decides to turn the plant over to a committee of executives just prior to the 1929 stock market crash. This forces her company to work at a fraction of it's capacity. Despite her pleas to her children, they refuse to help her by investing in the business. One of the son's incites the workers to riot and this results in the death of her grandson. Meanwhile the granddaughter finds herself in love with one of the troublemakers.
