A vibrant, quick-moving farce from Hal Roach and Norman Z. McLeod which casts Burke as the harebrained mother of an equally daffy family. She is obsessed with doing a good turn and allows bums to come in off the street and live with the family. When an unshaven writer (Aherne) asks to use

the phone, he is mistaken for another tramp and invited in. He accepts and soon gets accustomed to her hospitality. He brings a sense of order to the household and, inevitably, falls in love with Bennett, Burke's eldest daughter. A sterling example of screwball comedy under the seasoned hands of a

fine producer and director. The film earned Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Interior Decoration, Best Sound, and Best Song (the title song by Phil Craig and Arthur Quenzer).
