Okay remake of RKO's ROBERTA with lots of splash, color, and some excellent interpretations of a sensational score. Skelton, Gower Champion, and Keel want to put a show on Broadway but can't raise the necessary cash. Miller is a chorine who is sweet on Keel, and she offers them everything

she has, but they decline. Skelton's aunt has just passed away and left him a portion of her dress salon in Paris, so the trio departs for the City of Light in the hopes of selling Skelton's share and raising enough for their show. Once in Paris, they meet Grayson and Marge Champion, two sisters

who were adopted by Skelton's aunt and who now own the other half of the store. Skelton and company are shocked to learn that the salon is on its last legs. To make the place successful enough to sell, Keel comes up with an idea: turn the operation into a musical fashion show and get famed

designer Adrian to create some new gowns. The shop's creditors put some francs into the enterprise and hope for a miracle. Keel is falling for Grayson, much to the annoyance of Miller, who has by now come from New York. Marge Champion is falling for Gower Champion (what did you expect?), and

Skelton also has the hots for Grayson. Gabor, a model in rehearsal for the show, introduces everyone to her beau, Kasznar, a producer who will put up the money for their show on the proviso that they leave Paris at once. Skelton, Gower Champion, and Miller refuse to walk out on Grayson and Marge

Champion, but Keel goes to New York, only to realize that he can't do it alone. Kasznar and Keel return to Paris, and the musical fashion show is a smash. Keel and Grayson are in love, the Champions are in love, and Miller and Skelton begin to see something in each other at the fade. Songs

include: "Opening Night," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "Lovely to Look At," "The Touch of Your Hand," "Yesterdays," "I Won't Dance," "You're Devastating," "The Most Exciting Night," and "I'll Be Hard to Handle." The humor is slight, the fashions are gaudy, and the story is a trifle, but all this is

more than compensated for by Kern's music and Pan's choreography.
