Look for the Silver Lining Reviews

An insipid musical biography of Marilyn Miller, with Bolger being the only noteworthy actor in the film and his tap dance rendition of Jerome Kern's "Who" the only highlight. Bolger is Haver's mentor in her climb from vaudeville to Broadway, and her tale is told in flashbacks. Songs include: "Look for the Silver Lining," "Whip-Poor-Will," "A Kiss in the Dark" (Buddy De Sylva, Victor Herbert), "Pirouette" (Herman Finck), "Just a Memory" (De Sylva, Lew Brown, Ray Henderson), "Time on My Hands" (Mack Gordon, Harold Adamson, Vincent Youmans), "Wild Rose" (Clifford Grey, Kern), "Shine on Harvest Moon" (Nora Bayes, Jack Norworth), "Back, Back, Back to Baltimore" (Harry Williams, Egbert Van Alstyne), "Jingle Bells" (J.S. Pierpont), "Can't You Hear Me Callin', Caroline?" (William H. Gardner, Caro Roma), "Carolina in the Morning" (Gus Kahn, Walter Donaldson), "Yama Yama Man" (George Collin Davis, Karl Hoschna), "Dengozo" (Ernesto Nazareth), "Oh Gee! Oh Joy!" (P.G. Wodehouse, George and Ira Gershwin).
