Daniely is a singer who, during WW II, popularizes a song with the same name as her character. While she is entertaining British troops in north Africa, a Nazi officer hears her and offers her a good salary to inspire the German front lines. She refuses and McDermott, an American

broadcaster who has fallen in love with her, takes her to Cairo. She is kidnaped by Germans and forced to sing for Hitler's troops. When the war ends, she returns to London, is cleared of collaboration with the enemy, and reunites with McDermott. This is a poorly made picture, with overwritten

dialog and amateurish direction. The story is wholly unbelievable, though Daniely is appealing. The song "Lili Marlene" (sometimes, as in this title, spelled Lilli) was popular during WW II, and inspired not only this film, but Rainer Werner Fassbinder's German LILI MARLEEN in 1981 as well.
